Elves Preschool and Kindergarten Programs
Program Hours and Funding
- Operates from September to June
- School hours are 9:00 am to 2:30 pm
- ECS closures two Fridays each month
Funded by Alberta Education
Elves Early Childhood Education Program is offered to preschool children (ages 2 1/2 - 5) with severe delays in areas of speech and language, fine motor or gross motor development, a severe behavioural diagnosis or severe multiple physical or medical disabilities.
Program Description
- Small class sizes
- Parents/caregivers involved in the IPP process and daily communication between school and home.
- Three-year program providing support for learning routines, acquiring transitional skills and developing a strong basis for future learning.
- Focus of the program includes development of:
- Communication skills and/or production of language
- Appropriate play behaviour
- Fine motor skills
- Gross motor strength and competence
- Social skills
- Classroom skills and behaviours
- Preschool and Kindergarten knowledge
- Supported transition to community schools

- Behavioural Consultant
- Early Childhood Consultant

Why Intervene Early?
The early years of life for a child are the prime time for learning. The rate of human learning is most rapid in the preschool years. Early education provides an opportunity to learn during a state of maximum readiness.
